Reward, Recognize and Celebrate

One of the things that separates Chets Creek from other schools is the way that we celebrate our successes and the people that go above and beyond. We celebrated our Teacher of the Year earlier this year and this week we did the same for our Employee of the Year. We honored Christine Valnohoa, our "copy queen" extraordinaire who also works in the car loop in the mornings and afternoons as parents drop off and pick up their children.

As always, breakfast was brought by the faculty. The Media Center was decorated by Ms. V's peers, the Office Staff, and the ever-faithful Media Team. A slide show,"This is Your Life," was put together to flash throughout the morning. Because Christine is such a Disney fan, the theme for the morning was "all things Disney" with all of the faculty wearing their mouse ears. Each grade level prepared a skit, or rather a roasting, about Christine while she and her family enjoyed the laughter and fun. As each team completed their skit, they presented Christine with "Disney bucks" to be spent on her favorite pastime. The Kindergarten Team made Christine "Princess for the Day" with the appropriate Disney accessories and a little magic fairy dust. The Resource Team even volunteered to take the morning duties of all the Office staff and paraprofessionals so that they could enjoy the festivities for one of their own.
Each person at Chets Creek, just like at the Magic Kingdom, is an important piece of the puzzle. Each person contributes to this high-performing team. Each participant is expected to walk the talk. That's why we celebrate those that model the expectations every single day. Congratulations, Christine!

Dayle, the celebration was blast. I never knew that Patti B. was such an actor! Ms. V. certainly is a wonderful person, and it is simply amazing how she has made everyone's life better by running a great copy center (she's probably also saved about a million kids from sure death in the parking lot!). She's cool.

Peace,
