Holiday activities and crafts

Chets Creek first grade is like every other first grade this time of year. The children are filled with the holdicay spirit or maybe I should just say they are very "spirited" instead! They come in tired from shopping and activities at church and scouts and the ball park and chior and dancing and... They are filled with sugar from all the homemade cookies and sweets, but honestly, there is no better place to be than to be around children this time of year. The wonder and excitement in their eyes is worth it all. As I go through the first grade classrooms, you can feel the excitement building. Below are a sampling of some of the fun crafts, activites and gifts that the children are making and sharing.

One of my favorites this year is a fifth grade class that created centers for a first grade classroom. They designed activities, collected the supplies and then went in and enjoyed the crafts with their younger friends. In this "gimme" society, it is so refreshing to see teachers plan activites about giving. Thank you Jessie Lipsky and Bobbi Matthews for this true gift of giving.
